BEST
PRACTICES

We want you to enjoy your edwicks candle for as long as possible, so we've put together a little cheat sheet to help make your candle last.

LET IT BURN

When you first light your candle, let it burn for a while to ensure an even wax pool melts, approximately 2-3 hours. Burn it too short, your candle may tunnel; burn too long, the wax may thin too much.

2

KEEP IT CLEAN

Use tweezers, or something similar, to pluck soot or wick trimmings from your candle’s wax surface. This will help produce a cleaner burn with less soot.

3

TRIM YOUR WICK

To achieve a clean, even burn, trim your wick to the right height before lighting. A wick too short may get lost in the wax and fail to light. Too high of a wick may produce soot. Use scissors or a wick trimmer to eliminate the ashy debris and get that sweet spot between 1/8″ – 3/16″.

4

KNOW WHEN TO SAY GOODBYE

It’s recommended to stop using your candle when there’s half an inch of wax left, to avoid overheating the vessel. Placing your reitred candle in the freezer will cause the wax to shrink, allowing you to slide it out easily. Clean out your vessel and give it an encore career as a flower vase or pencil holder!

5

KEEP AN EYE OUT

Always burn in sight. Be sure your candle is on a steady, heat-resistant surface before lighting and away from air vents, windows, or drafts. Wind can cause an uneven burn, leading to tunneling. And of course, keep your candle a safe distance from children, pets, and other flammable objects.
